EVE Online
19:53:06 Jun 1st 10 - Mr. Path:

I was wondering if anyone here played EVE Online?  I have been interested in this game for years and even went so far as to pay for a month after the two week trial.   I then tried to join that EVE University corporation and the 10 days I spent queued up for an interview really sapped my interest in the entire game.

I am pretty much at the point where I'm going to cancel my subscription.  However, I want to give it one last chance just because I am in love with the *idea* of this game.  That is, one huge world, with a gigantic and well structured market.  As a beginner who knows little to nothing about the game, my enjoyment is very limited.  The only people who want to even communicate with me are all just attempting to rip me off.  So, I was wondering if any VUer played and would be willing to help me get started or maybe even just answer a few questions.

I played it for a little bit, but was a while ago.

It's a fun enough game and has alot of people ingame that are friendly and fun. The game itself is a great one, but you gotta spend days/weeks working on just one or two skills.
If you want to save time in the long run, work on learning straight away.
Oh and try and get yourself in a corps that accepts newbies. They may not be great, but they usually have a semi-experienced leader so can tell you a few things. Plus they have a corps store and can get you fitted with some okay stuff.

Like I said, I haven't played in a while, but if you got any questions. Go ahead, I'll try and rack my brain.

I didn't know there were elves in EVE online! What other secrets are there?

Just grind your way outwards toward 0.0 space. Avoid the porttal campers, farm the right faction and remember to get your intel spells up asap.

When you hit 0.0 join one of the big coalition guilds and join massive lag wars with 1000. of mother ships fighting over the same star system.

I can hook you up with some ppl if you are realy interested. I dunno if they are still playing. But a friend of mine used to pay hes rent from ISK he ebayed off of EVE.

Just had another thought on this. Are you building up for the right ship ? Some of the ships that are actually usefull in the end wars dont have THAT high requirements. I dont remember at all wich one it was i was getting, but it was pretty descent without to much effort.

You do however have to do missions ALOT and get the skill grind done before you have any interest for the corps.
